Specialization and Expertise
   
Topical  
  Biogeography: invasive species and their interactions with the landscape, native flora and fauna, and creating a better method to track the spread and impact of these species.
   
Regional  
  North America: especially the U.S. Southeast.
   
Methods  
  GIS: Proficient with ArcView 3.x, ArcGIS 8.x, and ArcEdit, which are used to enhance the analysis of geographic research. Though not an experienced designer, familiarity with ArcIMS and MapObjects allows for web based applications to share research results with a wider audience.
  Image Analysis: Familiar with ERDAS IMAGINE software, which is used to increase the understanding of our world by allowing questions to be answer about broader areas in less time through such operations as the enhancement, classification, and analysis of remotely sensed imagery.
  Field Methods: Experience with such field methods as vegetation health indexes, animal health indexes based on removal of vegetation, soil collection and classification, water health instruments, forest inventory, and GPS.
  GPS: Proficient in the use of most Trimble GPS units and office software for use in field data collection.

TEACHING
Courses Taught
   
Four classes taught while at Florida Power and Light, dealing with specialty GIS applications for electrical power systems and assisted in teaching twelve courses concerning the use of custom GIS applications under storm recovery conditions. Assisted teaching four classes at Louisiana Tech University, dealing with introductory skill sets for GIS and GPS field techniques.
